Estate at the front lawn. The reception was in front of the mansion in the
courtyard.
Gwen Ford from Wedding Inspirations coordinated the wedding. Gwen's website is www.weddinginspirations.com It was an elaborate, elegant affair which turned out absolutely perfect. The Biltmore Estate's most beautiful setting is of course the mansion itself. It is surrounded by gardens and lawns, which is perfect for ceremonies and receptions.

Posted at 03:52 PM Tue - July 11, 2006Amy and JaredAmy and Jared were married at the Grove Park Inn.
It was a very extravagant wedding which was coordinated by Amy Moore from Its
Your Day.
The ceremony took place on the veranda with the reception in the Grand Ballroom. Grove Park Inn weddings provide an elegant setting for weddings. The veranda looks out onto the golfcourse and downtown Asheville in the distance. Photography at the Grove Park Inn is exciting for me because of all the beautiful settings. Amy and Jared came from Charlotte to get married. Once again proving Asheville as a destination wedding location.
Posted at 05:36 PM Amber and Travor WeddingAmber and Travor were married in Asheville. The
wedding was photographed by my associate photographer, Jon Welch. Jon has been
shooting weddings with me over a year and has an extensive background in
journalism.
This was one of several weddings Jon is shooting as an associate photographer for me this year.
I joined Jon for the rehearsal dinner the evening before. The theme was truly southern, a barbecue.

the Biltmore Estate. It was a beautiful sunny day and we went throughout the
estate to take pictures. The reception was on the patio of the Lioncrest with
orderves served in the upstairs.
Biltmore weddings are always fun. The setting of the mansion and various gardens make it the top wedding location in Asheville. It is known as the destination wedding location of Asheville.
Posted at 11:45 PM Lisa and AdamLisa and Adam's wedding was at The Farm in
Canton. The setting was complete with beautiful thoroughbred horses. The
ceremony was outside next to the pasture in a wonderfully landscaped garden.
Posted at 11:35 PM Read More Tue - May 16, 2006Chelsea and SonnyChelsea and Sonny were married at the Central
United Methodist in downtown Asheville. Their wedding was early in the wedding
season, but may just end up being the most fun wedding of the year! The day was
all about fun. All of Chelsea's bridesmaids were energetic and funny. The
friends and family of these two were exciting to be around and really knew how
to keep the party at the reception going.
Gwen Ford from Wedding Inspirations was the coordinator. Gwen is an excellent coordinator, the most professional and pleasant of people. Her website is www.weddinginspirations.com Their wedding was so perfect and the two of them such a cute couple that I added their images to a gallery on my website. Be sure and check it out at http://www.scottlessing.com I've also updated a couple other galleries, so check it out.

Posted at 09:04 PM Laura and Brad's WeddingLaura and Brad were married on April 1st, yes
that is April Fool's Day. Their wedding was fun and Jon, my associate
photographer, shot it with me. Laura and Brad were a laid back couple and the
day's atmosphere was relaxing. We really felt part of the group, as the wedding
was small and Laura and Brad and their family were so
welcoming.
Their wedding was held at the bed and breakfast in Leicester. It was a beautiful spring day and there ceremony was held outside.
Posted at 08:59 PM New Update (Finally)It has been way too long since I have updated the
blog. In part because I have been busy posting many of my images on flickr. My
landscape, editorial and commerical work has all been posted on flickr rather
than my blog. I've found its an easy way for friends and family to view images
as well as share in a larger photo community. In April, my friends Reggie and
Bret went with me to Oregon and California for a week of photography. We
visited Yosemite and many state parks. All of those images are on my flickr.
site at
http://www.flickr.com/photos/15188330@N00/ The plan is for me to post all of my non-wedding images on flickr from here out. I will do my best to keep my weddings and wedding related photos up to date on the blog. I'll have some bridal portraits and engagement photos coming soon too. Posted at 08:56 PM Read More Sun - February 5, 2006Linville FallsToday I went to the Linville Gorge Wilderness
area to photograph the Linville falls and the gorge. There was a light snow on
the ground and it was about 28 degrees. Needless to say, it was really cold and
I froze out there.
I took a couple photos from the Chimneys, about a 1000 foot overlook above the gorge. The wind and snow were blowing strongly and I could only stand there a few minutes to get my shots. I wanted to get down to a lower part of the gorge where I could shoot from the base of the falls, but after a two mile hike, I didn't have the energy for another trail loop. Oh well, next time!
Posted at 04:37 PM Wed - January 18, 2006Drive along to Sparta, NCMy friend Len and I drove up to Sparta, NC. The
drive took us through Blowing Rock, Boone and onto Sparta. The picture below
was taken on 221 right below the Linn Cove Viaduct. We had stopped to photograph
a small cascade. While walking back to the car, I noticed this tree right next
to the car. With the fog, it was a mysterious
setting.
Posted at 06:22 PM Mon - January 16, 2006Cataloochee ValleyBeautiful sunny day in Cataloochee Valley in the
Smoky Mountains. There had been a bit of snow the previous day and there is a
little visible in foreground still.
Posted at 08:54 PM Sun - January 15, 2006Photos from an afternoon of shooting. These images are from a drive I took heading up
toward Avery County. There was a beautiful sunset which set behind the hill of
a Christmas tree farm. There are always great settings along this road and its
fun to travel through this part of Western NC.
Posted at 11:13 PM Sequence of EmiThis a sequence I took of my daughter. She's my
favorite subject and always ready to pose.
Posted at 11:11 PM Sat - January 14, 2006Old Motel in CherokeeAfter I visited the Smokies to get the snow shots
below, I headed west towards Bryson City. There were several old motels that
were no longer in use. This one in particular interested me because it had a
pool, which is uncommon. Also, it still had the pool table and shades but
obviously hadn't been in use for years.
Posted at 10:19 PM Snow on the RiverHere are some recent shots from the Great Smoky
Mountains. Most of the parks roads were closed with the snowfall that came on
Saturday the 14th. But the first three miles of Newfound Gap Road were open and
that is where I was able to get these shots.

pics yesterday near the Christmas tree farms in Avery County. Along the way we
found some great things to shoot. The others are of an old building window and
a long tree around dusk.
Posted at 09:53 AM Sat - January 7, 2006Bed and Breakfast photographsBelow are some recent photos from a shoot I did
at the Chestnut Inn Bed and Breakfast. The Inn is located in Asheville,
NC.
They have beautifully decorated rooms, and the Inn has lots of charm. It was constructed circa 1905. The woodwork in the stairway, foyer and dining room is beautiful.

the slopes at Sugar Mountain in Banner Elk. There was some fresh snow from the
day before.
On my next visit I hope to have more time to go up the lift and get some more shots of skiers and snowboarders from the top of the mountain.

rolling around in.

first photos are from Deep Gap road at the NC/Tennessee border.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted at 02:47 PM Angela and Clint's WeddingThe wedding of Amy and Clint was on a beautiful
fall day. It was the first weekend of November and outside of the Church were
still some beautiful colors.
Posted at 02:44 PM Leigh and James Engagement PhotosThese were taken at the peak of the fall foliage
and within a week, it was all gone. We headed up on the parkway to get these
shots. It was a lot of fun, and because the leaves turned so late this year
there weren't a lot of crowds.

Posted at 12:03 AM Read More Tue - October 25, 2005Fall Smoky Mountain PicturesJust back from the Smoky Mountains. It was a
beautiful weekend for photography. My friends Len and Reggie came too and we
camped and photographed all weekend.
Many of these shots are from Big Creek and the Cataloochee Valey area. The fall colors are still not peaking. This week will probably be the peak, so I will be heading back again this weekend. This time to the western area of the Park near Cades Cove to get more of the vibrant colors.
